How FAAN Infested Ejigbo Community With Snakes, Wild Animals

The Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria, FAAN, Ikeja, Lagos, has reportedly thrown the residents of Ejigbo Community into panic and danger after deadly snakes and wild animals they had haboured within their premises started ravaging the area even causing deaths due to attacks.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that while the residents are battling to survive the Covid-19 pandemic, another disaster visited the area due to 15 years of neglect by FAAN Management to clear thick bushes inside their fenced premises, which has caused serious hazards in Ejigbo for sometime now.
Some of the residents were said to be in various hospitals receiving treatment over snake bites and wild animals attack while some were said to be making arrangements to move out of the area, which had fence boundary with FAAN premises, because they can no longer sleep at night.
Some of the areas said to have been invaded by those reptiles and wild animals were Ejigbo Magistrates Court, Primary School, Amakiyo Police Station, Jubril Olabisi Street, Lafenwa, and many other streets close to the FAAN fence.
It was gathered that the Management had kept the bushes that way for several years without clearing them which prompted both reptiles and wild animals from the area to start coming out especially at night to attack the residents.
This was confirmed by the Chairman of one of CDAs, Alhaji Lamonu Giwa, who said they have written to the Management of FAAN, copied the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Ejigbo LCDA, Chairman and Traditional Ruler of Ejigbo kingdom.
In the letter dated 27th May, 2020, directed to the Managing Director of FAAN, titled: Snake Invasion: Urgent Call For FAAN To Clear Bush Surrounding Houses At Ageke West LCDA,it called on the Management of FAAN to clear the thick bushes within the fence which they had not done for over 15 years which had posed serious health hazards to the community.
It stated that due to neglect, all kinds of reptiles especially snakes of different sizes and other dangerous animals were ravaging and threatening the lives of the residents.
“Residents are frequenting hospitals for treatment of snake bites and attack by other dangerous animals in the area. Therefore, we are using this medium to call FAAN and those responsible for clearing of the bushes to save Ejigbo Community further attacks by this wild animals”  it stated.
When P.M.EXPRESS correspondent visited the area, it was tales of woes of what had befallen the residents. Some of the residents said that they do not move or open their doors especially at night  because of wild animals and reptiles coming to the area through the fence.
When P.M.EXPRESS correspondent contacted FAAN at Ikeja, the security men at the gate said that the person who was supposed to attend to the reporter was not around.
