For Kikelomo Omoshola Akinrogunde, a content creator popularly known in the industry as Mooreshola, she is one of the rising stars in the Nigerian skit making space. Her comedic materials stemmed from day-to-day happenings around her which she uses to create contents with a humorous twist.

Speaking about her foray into skit making, the talented skitmaker said she was inspired to go into the industry by Nollywood star actress, Funke Akindele.

“I was inspired by Funke Akindele’s resilience and work ethics. She’s one celebrity I watched closely and noticed her knack for perfection. Of course, her comical character, Jenifa, inspired me to give skitmaking a shot and thank God, it’s been one of the best decisions of my life,” she said in a chat with TS WEEKEND.

Mooreshola explained that she opted to choose skitmaking as a career in order to stand out and teach people lessons about life and not only to make them laugh. “Initially, I started making skits for the fun of it but when I saw that people were actually liking my content, I decided to take it up as a career, create a niche with my materials —a tragi-comedy contents— to teach people lessons about life,” she added.

Mooreshola confirmed that her choice of career via social media has played a significant positive impact on her life and has greatly helped in building her fan base. “Social media has played a big role because that is what gives us the platform to churn out our materials. Social media platforms have actually made things easier. You post your skits, people get to watch and make comments, funny ones at that, and oftentimes, these skits go viral.  It has helped in giving me fame and fans support,” she said.

Giving advice to young people who might want to seeking opportunities in skit making and content creation, Mooreshola said, “Firstly, you need to be passionate about this and be consistent with it because starting out, you may not find things easy and it is your passion that will be driving you to move on.

“They also need to have at the back of their mind that passion is like an investment. Many do not see it so, but passion is an investment. The more you keep doing what you love doing, the more you are investing in yourself, because you become better each day, and a day will surely come that your passion will pay off. When you invest into what you love doing, over time it brings rewards beyond your wildest imagination,” Mooreshola summed.
