A 30-year old man, Daniel Chigozie, has revealed how he traded with his 9-Month son by selling him to three different buyers and retrieving him after obtaining money from the victims in Ogun State.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspect, Chigozie, made the confession after he was arrested by the operatives of Amotekun Corps in Ogun State, who received security intelligence over his criminal activities using the innocent baby.
The suspect, who resides at Abela, Sango-Ota in Ado-Odo Local Government Area of Ogun State, was said to have started using the baby as a bait to make money after the wife gave birth to him.
This was disclosed by the Commandant of the Corps in Ogun State, David Akinremi, who confirmed that the suspect was in custody undergoing interrogation over his conduct.
He stated that he was apprehended following the security intelligence reports that the father, Chigozie had serially traded his 9-month-old son, Daniel Chinonye Darlington, selling the little boy to three different buyers at different locations in Sango, Meiran and Apapa area of Lagos.
He was said to be in the business since 2022 and the victims had paid him N150,000, N400,000 and N700,000 respectively between August 2022 and February 2023.
However, after selling the baby, he would arrange with some criminal gang and retrieve the baby from the buyer without refunding the money.
According to Akinremi, an investigation conducted by the corps revealed that the Chigozie is suspected to be working with a criminal syndicate, which he used and devised a means through which the son was retrieved from each of the buyers after each sale.
He however, landed in trouble after he sold the boy to the last buyer, one Dr. Nosa in Apapa area of Lagos, retrieved the baby and he was exposed and caught in the act.
The suspect confessed to the crime. He is being profiled by the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) for a follow-up investigation to recover the child.
Akinremi stated that the suspect will be prosecuted for the alleged offence under the Criminal law of the State but that will be after the conclusion of investigations by the relevant agencies.
