P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Ajibogun Street, Baruwa area of Ipaja, Lagos State, where they reside.
According to Police sources, the suspect, Shina, who was said to be very jealous, had a disagreement with his wife, Kafayat, over suspicions that other men may be after her when he will not be around as he had been monitoring every of her movements.
On 8th June, 2022, when the incident happened, Shina was said to have confronted his wife, Kafayat, over an unrealistic suspicion and started beating her. In the process, he gave her fist blows before he broke a bottle and inflicted injury on her face.
She was said to have bled profusely and was rushed to an undisclosed hospital for treatment. The matter was reported to the Police at Ipaja Division, who arrested Shina over his conduct for interrogation.
After interrogation, the Police found him culpable and subsequently charged him before the Ogba Magistrates Court for assault.
When he was arraigned, he pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, DSP Clara Olagbayi, asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. H.B. Mogaji, granted him bail in the sum N200,000 with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and the addresses verified by the Court.
However, Shina was remanded in the Correctional Centre pending when he will perfect his bail conditions while the matter was adjourned till 26th July, 2022, for mention.
