How Jilted Man Raped Girl, 18, After Dislodging Her Boyfriend With Beatings

A jilted man 27-year old man, Ilori Kunle, has landed in trouble in Lagos State after he dislodged his rival, identied as Wharif, with beatings and forcefully raping the 18-year girl in question at an uncompleted building. 

 

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the victim reported the matter to the Police and the suspect, Kunle, was arrested. He was charged for rape under the criminal law of the State.

 

The incident happened on 20th day of March 2025, at Berger Garage, Ojodu – Lagos.

 

The suspect was said to have met the victim with her boyfriend and attacked both of them. The boyfriend fled for his life and abandoned the victim.

 

According to the Police from the Gender Section of the Police Command, on the 21/03/2025, the case was transferred to this Unit from Ojodu Police Station, Lagos State. The victim alleged that the suspect, llori Kunle, on 20/03/2025 while she was in her place of work at Berger -Ojodu Lagos with her boyfriend, Wharif, came and harassed them. And in the process, he beat up the boyfriend, which made him to run away for his dear life.

 

The complainant further stated that she was left alone and in the process, he took advantage of her and dragged her to an uncompleted building. After several beatings and slaps, he had an unlawful canal knowledge of her.

 

After his arrest and thorough interrogation, he was found culpable and then charged before the Ogba Magistrates Court for the alleged offence, which attracts several years of imprisonment.

 

The charges read:

“That you, Ilori Kunle ‘m’, on the 20th day of March 2025, at about 1200hours, at Berger Garage, Ojodu – Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did assault the victim by beating her up with slaps and stick on her face and body and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 172 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”

 

COUNT II: “That you, Ilori Kunle ‘m’, on the same date, time and place, in the aforementioned Magisterial District, did have an unlawful carnal knowledge of the victim and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 260 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria.”

 

The Court did not take his plea following a motion moved by the prosecutor,  Inspector Lucky Ihiehie, asking the Court to give a date and refer the matter to the DPP for legal advice.

 

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. M.O.Tanimola, ordered his remand in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP for legal advice.

 

The matter was adjourned for mention for the report of the DPP’s advice to be available, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
