How Kidnappers Abducted Business Man For N7.3m Ransom At Computer Village

Operatives of the Commissioner of Police Special Squad in Ikeja, Lagos, have arrested one of the suspected armed kidnappers, Chidi Kalu, over his alleged involvement in the kidnapping of a business man, Adams Danjuma Yusuf, at Computer Village and collecting N7.3m ransom.

 

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the 28-year old suspect, Chidi Kalu and others now at large allegedly conspired and kidnapped the victim and kept him in an uncompleted building for three days before he was forced to pay ransom for his release.

 

The incident happened on 14th April, 2025, about 1800hrs at Computer Village area of Ikeja Lagos.

 

The armed men reportedly kidnapped the victim, escaped to an unknown place and kept him in captivity. Aside collecting the ransom, the suspects, while armed with gun, robbed him of his belongings including his phone and other valuables before he was released.

 

However,  the matter was reported to the Police. The operatives moved into action, eventually arrested one of the suspects,  Chidi Kalu and detained him at the Command for interrogation over their alleged conduct against the victim.

 

After the investigation, the Police found him culpable and charged him before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged conspiracy, kidnapping, possession of arms and armed robbery, which attracts several years of imprisonment.

 

Some of the charges read:

“That you, Chidi Kalu ‘m’ and others now at large, on the 14th day of April, 2025, about 1800hrs at Computer Village area of Ikeja Lagos, in the Lagos Material Destrict, did conspire amongst yourselves to commit felony to wit: kidnapping and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 3 of the Kidnapping Prohibition Law 2017 of Lagos State of Nigeria.”

 

COUNT II:”That you, Chidi Kalu ‘m’ and others now at large, on the same date, time and place, in the aforesaid Magisterial District, did unlawfully capture and detain one Adams Danjuma Yusuf ‘m’ against his will for three days in an uncompleted building at an unknown area, demanded and received as ransom the sum of Seven million, three hundred thousand Naira (N7,300,000.00) from the victim, which was transferred from his Opay account No. 8021919123 to Sterling Bank account No. 0072163099 account name Olayide Victoria Adeola for the sum of One hundred housand Naira (N100,000.00), Kuda MFB account number 2048374659 account name Simon Nicholas for the sum of Sixty thousand Naira (N60,000.00), United Bank for Africa (UBA) account number 2113429231 account name Olayide Victoria Adeola for the sum of One hundred thousand Naira (N100,000.00), Zenith Bank account No. 175455025 Victoria Adeola Olayide for the sum of Fifty thousand Naira (N50,000.00), moniepoint MFB account No. 6686016109 account name Amisu Sahliu for the sum of six million Naira (N6,000,000.00), recharged one MTN line No. 08034293789 to the ne of Thirty-five thousand Naira (N35,000.00), recharged MTN line No. 08104919532 the tune of Fifteen thousand Naira (N15,000.00) and recharged MTN line No. 1048747796 to the tune of Ten thousand Naira (N10,000.00) and thereby commited offence punishable under Section 2 of the Kidnapping Prohibition Law 2017 of Lagos ate of Nigeria.”

 

COUNT III:”That you, Chidi Kalu ‘m’ and others now at large, on the 14th day of April 2025 at about 1800hrs, at Computer Village area of Ikeja Lagos, in the aforesaid Magisterial District, did conspire amongst yourselves to commit felony to wit: Armed robbery and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”

 

COUNT IV:”That you, Chidi Kalu ‘m’ and others now at large, on the same date, time and place, in the aforesaid Magisterial District, while armed with cut to size single barrel gun, did rob Samsung Galaxy flip 6, Samsung galaxy fold 6, iPhone 16 and iPhone 15 promax, all valued Six million, eight hundred thousand Naira (N6,800,000.00), property fone Adams Danjuma Yusuf ‘m’ and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 296 and Punishable under Section 297(2)(a)(b) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”

 

However, the Court did not take his plea when he was arraigned following a motion moved by the prosecutor,  Supol Philip Ademigbuji, asking the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for legal advice.

 

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O. Kusanu, ordered his remand in custody at the correctional center pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP for legal advice.

 

The matter was adjourned for mention for the report of the DPP’s advice to be available, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
