The residents of Ayobo in Ipaja area of the Lagos State are now living in fear over the activities of the kidnappers, who invaded the area, shot two people dead, abducted two sisters demanded N5m ransom before they were released from captivity.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on 1st April, 2022, at Oshin New Site in Ishefun area of Ayobo, where the victims reside.

According to the residents, the kidnappers armed with assorted weapons, came with their boats from the riverline and invaded the area in the evening of the fateful day. They shot two people, Nurudeen Olarewaju and Idris Olowolayemi dead and then abducted the two sisters, Anifat Salami and Rasheedat Salami and took them into captivity until the ransom was paid.

During the operation, which reportedly lasted for several hours,  the dreaded armed men were heard saying that the operation will be a routine because they will be coming anytime they want to and the residents should always be prepared.

The Police in the area were said to be helpless and had to go into hiding because of the sophisticated weapons the bandits were using during operations in the area.

After the ugly incident, the residents were said to be living in fear and those who could not bear it have relocated elsewhere to avoid such nasty experience again.

According to the residents, the men behind the kidnapping were well known to the residents, who were said to be afraid to mention them because they were originally into oil bunkering before the business closed and they moved into kidnapping business.

Following the activities of the kidnappers in the area, the Commissioner of Police strike team was contacted and deployed to the area and it paid off.

Two of the suspected kidnappers,  Emmanuel Ayenuro, 65 and Stanley Osoloso, were arrested and taken to the Command for interrogation over their activities in the area.

During interrogation, they reportedly revealed that they were using two rivers namely Ayobo and Kande rivers as their escape routes and their victims were taken across the rivers until ransom was paid.

The suspects were subsequently charged before the Ogba Magistrates Court before the Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O.B. Osunsanmi.

They were remanded in custody over the murder and kidnapping of the victims, which has instilled fear into the residents of the area while the Police were said to be making efforts to arrest other suspects now at large.
