On a very sad note, a 39-year old lady, Lilian Nwarache, has committed suicide in Lagos State by drinking the deadly Sniper insecticide over frustration.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on 3rd November, 2023, at Iwaya area of Lagos State.
The late Lilian was reported to have been suffering from an undisclosed protracted illness and had been seeking cure in a church in Iwaya area to no avail. She became frustrated by her condition because it appeared that there was no solutions in sight to her predicament.
She reportedly decided to terminate her life by drinking a full bottle of Sniper insecticide having earlier tried to jump into a canal after drinking the insecticide but was prevented by passersby and was rushed to a hospital, where a doctor confirmed her dead.
This was confirmed by the Police Public Relations Officer of the Lagos State Command,  Benjamin Hundeyin, who explained that three passport photographs belonging to the deceased were found in her bag alongside her Samsung mobile phone.
“It was reported on Friday, around 2pm, at the Sabo Police Station, that a woman, 39-year-old, with an unknown address, committed suicide.”
“She had been having a protracted illness and visited a church for prayers.
But while in the frustrating condition, she drank a full bottle of a popular brand of insecticide and was said to have made frantic efforts to jump into the canal.
She was prevented and rushed to the health centre Iwaya, where she was confirmed dead by a medical doctor on duty.”
“Detectives were immediately sent to the scene. Photographs were taken, the insecticide plastic containing little content, her three passports and one Samsung phone were recovered in her small bag.”
Hundeyin disclosed that efforts were in progress to contact her family members, while her corpse had been deposited at the Lagos Mainland Hospital Mortuary for an autopsy.
“Her corpse has been removed and deposited at the Lagos Mainland Hospital Mortuary for preservation and autopsy.”
“Efforts are in progress to contact her family members and preliminary investigation is also in progress,” he added.
Meanwhile, her corpse was still in the mortuary and the Police were yet to reach members of her family as at the time of filing this report.
