How LASTMA Officer, 47, K*lled Self After St*bbing 37-Year Old Lover

A 47-year old Lagos State Traffic Management Agency, LASTMA officer, Emmanuel Mekuri, has killed himself after he allegedly stabbed his lover,  Mrs. Patricia Ogunshola, who accused him of infidelity in Morogbo area of Badagry Lagos.

P.M.EXPRESS reports as disclosed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bala Elkana in Lagos.
He said that on 5th July, 2020, at about 0100 hours, Morogbo Police Station received a distress call from Zoo area, Araromi that one Emmanuel Mekuri ‘m’ 47, a LASTMA personnel, stabbed his lover, Mrs. Patricia Ogunshola ‘f’ 37, on her right thigh with a Jack knife.

Alarm was raised by the 13-year old daughter of the lady (who she got from a previous marriage), which drew the attention of their neighbours to the scene. 

In her statement, the girl stated that the LASTMA official, who she referred to as her step father, made further attempts to stab her mother on the head but she quickly ran out of the room. The girl said that he subsequently stabbed himself on the stomach; his intestines gushed out and he died on the spot. 

Elkana stated that on arrival at the scene, homicide detectives preserved the crime scene and rushed the injured woman to the hospital for medical attention. She is currently in a stable condition. The corpse of the deceased officer was evacuated to the mortuary for autopsy. A blood stained knife was recovered from the scene.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the couple started cohabiting in February, 2020, but not legally married. There was a protracted argument between the couple that degenerated into physical assault purported to have arisen from allegations bothering on infidelity on the part of the man. 

Mrs. Patricia was said to have been married before she separated, met the deceased and they started living together with her daughter before the incident happened.

The Commissioner of Police Lagos State Command, CP Hakeem Odumosu, has ordered the immediate transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department Panti, Yaba for discreet investigation.
