How Man, 24, Strangled Bosom Friend & Buried Him In Shallow Grave

A 24-year old man, Agbo Onuabuchi, has allegedly strangled his bosom friend, Peter Ukekwe, 44 and buried him in a shallow grave in order to cover up the alleged murder in Enugu State.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on 1st April, 2023, at Amori community in Nkanu West Local Government Area of the State.
The suspect, Onuabuchi, who is from Ebonyi State and resides at Ogidi, Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State, has been arraigned before the Court for the alleged murder and remanded in Enugu Custodial Centre.
According to the Police, the suspect and the deceased travelled from Ogidi, Anambra State and reportedly visited a native doctor identified as Onyeka Edeh for undisclosed purposes.
However, during the night hours, the duo left the host’s house for an unknown destination and a search was conducted, but they were not found until the following morning, when the suspect was arrested at Obe community in the same LGA, by Police operatives serving in Nkanu West Division of Enugu State Command with the assistance of spirited citizens while he was attempting to escape to Ogidi, Anambra State.
This was disclosed by the Police Public Relations Officer of the State Command, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, who confirmed the arrest and detention of the suspect for interrogation.
He stated that during interrogation, the suspect confessed to the crime, stating that he strangled the victim to death and buried him in a shallow grave in the bush.
He took the Police to the bush, where his remains were exhumed and deposited in the mortuary for preservation and autopsy.
The PPRO, DSP, Ndukwe stated that the matter has been transferred to the Homicide Section of the State CID Enugu, where an investigation into the case was consolidated, concluded and the suspect was arraigned in Court for murder under the Criminal Law of the State.
He  was consequently remanded in custody pending the DPP’s advice, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction on the matter, which attracts several years of imprisonment or life imprisonment.
