A 25-year old man, Bright Emelogu, has been arrested for allegedly raping a 14-year old boy inside school premises in Lagos State.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Top Goodness College, Jakande Estate in Lekki area of Lagos State, where the school is located.
The Police did not state if the suspect, Bright, was a staff of the school or not but alleged that he lured the boy into one of the classrooms in the school premises then forcefully penetrated him and in the process injured his anus.
Thereafter, the boy went home and told his parents what happened and the matter was reported to the Police. The suspect, Bright, was then arrested and the matter was later transferred to the Gender Section of the Command for investigation.
After thorough interrogation, the Police found him culpable and subsequently charged him before the Ogba Magistrates Court for the alleged offence.
But his plea was not taken following a motion by the prosecutor, DSP Kehinde Ajayi, for the matter to be referred to the DPP for advice.
Thus, the Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O.A. Ajibade, ordered his remand in custody pending the outcome of the DPP’s report and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send to the DPP.
The matter was adjourned till 16th September, 2021, for report of the DPP to be available, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
