How Man, 50, Swindled Married Woman N3.8m Under False Pretence

A 50-year old man, Chinedu Enyeobi, has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly swindling a married woman, Mrs.Nnedinma Igbonwelundu, to the tune of N3.8m under the false pretences of securing a loan.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened in February, 2022 at Abaranje area of Ikotun, Lagos.
He has been charged before the Ogba Magistrate Court for allegedly obtaining under false pretence which stipulates 15 years imprisonment and stealing which attracts three years imprisonment.
However, he pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, DSP Kehinde Ajayi, had told the Court that the defendant obtained the money from one Mrs Igbonwelundu on false pretences of securing a loan and  converted the money to his personal use and the offences contravened the provisions of Sections 315 and 287 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. E. Kubeinje, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and addresses verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned till 19th December, 2023, for mention while the defendant was remanded in the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
