A 56-year old man, Saleh Idris, has landed in trouble in Jigawa State after he allegedly engaged his 14-year old house maid in sex after drugging her. Thereafter, she became pregnant and he attempted to induce abortion before he was caught.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspect, Idris, has been arrested for the alleged rape.
The incident happened at Unguwar Mani Quarters, Roni Local Government Area, Jigawa State, where they reside.
The suspect, Idris was arrested by the operatives of the Jigawa State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps and detained for interrogation over his alleged conduct.
This was disclosed by Command’s spokesperson, Adamu Shehu, who confirmed the arrest and stated that the suspect was undergoing interrogation over his alleged conduct.
Adamu Shehu said that the suspect was arrested following a complaint by the victim’s brother, who reported that Idris had raped and impregnated his 14-year old sister, who was a house maid at his residence and was pressurising the family to abort the pregnancy.
He said that the victim hinted that the suspect offered her a drink, which made her become unconscious, before having carnal knowledge of her.
He said: “According to the 14-year old, her first encounter with the suspect was when he offered her a drink at the time his wife was not at home, which made her lose consciousness, and he had carnal knowledge of her”.
“And when she regained consciousness, he threatened her not to tell anyone or risk losing her monthly allowances, which he retained for about seven months without paying.”
“The ugly trend continued repeatedly without her telling anyone until pregnancy surfaced.”
“The case was reported at NSCDC Divisional office, Roni LGA Division, after a failed agreement by the suspect to care for the pregnancy.”
He stated that the suspect will be charged before the Court for the alleged offence under the Criminal Laws of the State but that will be after the conclusion of investigations.
