A business man, Ifeanyi Anthony, will not forget in a hurry how he got a duplex in Lagos and engaged a 24-year old man, Mustapha Musa, as security guard.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that it turned out that the security guard, Musa, who Anthony had employed, was a habitual thief, who started his criminal activities almost immediately after he was engaged at Ali Dada Street, Ago, Okota, Lagos.

At night, when the owner of the house was not around, Musa allegedly arranged with his gang, used spare keys and carted away 3 air conditioners, 20 ceiling fans worth N1.6m, bolted away and then sold them at give away prices.

However, when the owner of the house, Ifeanyi Anthony came back, he discovered what happened and asked the security guard, Musa, what happened to those items. He claimed that the items were carted away by thieves.
Then the owner asked to know why he employed him as guard as he was unable to give satisfactory answers. The matter was reported to the Police at Ago, Okota Division. The guard, Musa, was arrested and detained at the Station for interrogation.

After interrogation, the Police found him culpable and subsequently charged him before the Isolo Magistrates Court on two count charge of conduct likely to cause breach of public peace and stealing.

He pleaded guilty before the Court on first count and pleaded for restorative justice and offered to pay for the stolen items.

The prosecutor, Mr. Oje Uagbale, asked the Court for sentence on the first count to serve as deterrent then he should pay for the items he stole as restorative justice.

Thus, the Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O. A. Okohia, found him guilty and sentenced him to three weeks community service at General Hospital and pay N150,000 to the complaint as restorative justice.
However, he will remain in custody pending when he will fullfil the conditions before he can be released.
