A notorious and deadly Aiye Confraternity hitman, Qudus Sodimu a.k.a Bababu, has been arrested after his charms failed him during operation in Ogun State.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that aside the Police operatives of the Ogun State Command recovering the charms, they also recovered other dangerous weapons as exhibits in the operation which lasted for several hours amid exchange of gun fire.
This was disclosed by the new Commissioner of Police, CP Olarenwaju Yomi Oladimeji, who paraded the suspects on Wednesday at the State Command, Eleweran, Abeokuta.
The Police boss, Olarenwaju, while addressing the media, revealed that the suspects were arrested following intelligence information received that some members of the dreaded Aiye Confraternity had assembled themselves at the Elega area of Abeokuta in preparation for a supremacy battle with another group.
The Commissioner revealed that his officers moved into action and the cult group engaged the Police in a gun-battle, which left two of the cultists injured while others took to their heels.
It was during the operation that Bababu was arrested alongside other suspects and detained in Police custody undergoing interrogation over their activities in Ogun State and its environs.
The CP also paraded other members of armed robbery syndicates terrorizing Sango Ota and its environs, who were arrested including Sheriff Kamoru 28; Rabiu Seyidu 37; Opeyemi Adebayo 26 and Ajibola Fakolade 21.
The suspects were said to have robbed one Adeleye Sunday on the 20th of March, 2023; macheted his neck at Joju, collected his two phones and subsequently withdrew N600,000 from his account through his bank’s App, which was on the phone.
Other suspects paraded were Adebiyi Adeyemi and Osisemowo Ayobami, who were also cultists of the same Eiye Confraternity from Stan/Idiroko; Muyiwa Juwon Adebola and Lukman Olumuyiwa.
Recovered from them were two locally made double barrel guns, five native knives, five expended cartridges, a battle axe, two locally made shotguns and four live cartridges including the charms recovered from Bababu during the operation.
The Police stated that the suspects will be charged before the Court for the various offences committed under the Criminal Laws of the State but that will be after the conclusion of investigations by the Police.
The Commissioner of Police, Mr Oladimeji, has attributed the feat achieved in the fight against criminals in the last few days to the strategies mapped out at the Command to deal with criminals in the state.
He stated that the Command would deploy all its resources to wage war against crime and criminality as well as their sponsors.
CP Oladimeji solicited the continued support of members of the public especially in the area of information that would assist the Command in the efforts to rid the state off crime.
