How Police Busted 3 Notorious Armed Robbery Suspects During Operation

Police operatives from the Ogun State Command have busted three members of an armed robbery syndicate, who specialised in snatching motorcycles from owners while pretending to be passengers.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the Police identified the syndicate as Daniel Akapo, 27, Idowu Ajao Sunday, 20 and Dare Olusegun 24.
They were arrested at Oke Erigba village, Ago Iwoye town while attempting to snatch motorcycles from the owners, pretending to be passengers before the robbery attempt was foiled.
This was disclosed by the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Oyeyemi, who confirmed that the suspects were in Police custody undergoing interrogation.
SP Abimbola Oyeyemi stated that the suspects were arrested following a distress call received by Policemen attached to Ago Iwoye Divisional Headquarters that a motorcyclist, Shefiu Moshood, was being attacked by two men, who pretended as passengers and asked him to take them to Oke Erigba village on his motorcycle.
“The motorcyclist said the two suspects suddenly stopped him along the road and told him that they were not going again. They pretended as if they wanted to give him money only to bring out powdered grounded pepper and rubbed it on the rider’s eyes with the view to snatch the motorcycle from him.”
“While he was struggling with them, an axe fell down from the suspects’ bag, which the victim picked to attack them back.
While the struggling was going on, the DPO Ago Iwoye Division, SP Noah Adekanye, arrived at the scene with his men and some OPC men.”
“On sighting the Policemen, the hoodlums took to their heels but they were hotly chased and the duo of Daniel Akapo and Idowu Ajao Sunday were apprehended.”
On interrogation, they confessed to the commission of the crime and informed the Police that it was one Dare Olusegun, who asked them to go and snatch motorcycle with the promise that he will help them to sell it somewhere in Ibadan, Oyo State.
Their confession led to the arrest of the said Dare Olusegun, who also corroborated the statement of the two arrested suspects.
Meanwhile, the Ogun Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Bankole, has directed that the suspects be transferred to State Criminal Investigation Departments for discreet investigation.
