Facts have emerged how Police operatives from the Lagos State Command arrested six notorious suspects behind the dastardly robbery attack on 11th May, 2022, at the popular Mambillah Hotel, Owutu, Ikorodu and killed one in a gun battle.
P.M.EXPRESS gathered that the arrest of the suspects followed painstaking, diligent and discreet investigation ordered and closely monitored by the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Abiodun Alabi.
This was disclosed by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, at the Command’s Headquarters in Ikeja, Lagos.
He explained that the suspects were traced to their hideout at Oju-irin Abattoir, Lagos State, where they were eventually arrested and confirmed that they are in Police custody undergoing interrogation over the incident.
He gave the names of the suspects to include Lekan Adeoye ‘m’ aged 19, Ojo Akeredolu ‘m’ aged 29, Quadri Balogun ‘m’ aged 23, Ahmed Oke ‘m’ aged 24, John Toluwalashe ‘m’ aged 23 and Azeez Akinpelu ‘m’ aged 20.
Sp Benjamin Hundeyin stated the seventh suspect, Taye, was neutralized during a gun duel with Police officers and items recovered from the suspects were two locally made pistols with 11 live cartridges and they were kept as exhibits at the Command.
It would be recalled that the armed gang invaded Mambillah Hotel, robbing guests of their valuables and shooting dead the hotel security guard in their bid to escape after the Police arrived the scene.
The earlier arrested supervisor and other staff of the hotel have since been released after further investigations cleared them of any culpability.
He said that the suspects will be arraigned in Court as the investigation is currently being concluded for armed robbery and murder.
The suspects risk life imprisonment or death penalty if they are tried and found guilty before the Court as the punishment for the alleged offence.
