Police operatives from the Lagos State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Yaba, have arrested a notorious uber driver, Adedayo Ben Adegbola, for allegedly terrorising women across the state through series of rape, assault and armed robbery attacks.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspect was identified through viral social media post of his activities on female passengers including robbing them their properties after rape.

This was disclosed by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, of the Lagos State Command.

She explained that the suspect, Adegbola, was arrested on Friday, at about 9.40am, after a painstaking and discreet investigation ordered by the Commissioner of Police, CP Olohunnare Jimoh.

“The suspect, described as a vicious and very notorious criminal, was linked to multiple cases of rape, defilement, assault occasioning harm, indecent assault, and armed robbery targeting female passengers who boarded his commercial taxi.”

She stated that the Police also recovered a red Toyota Corolla with registration number JJJ 226 HT, allegedly used by Adegbola in perpetrating the crimes as an exhibit for prosecution.

“The suspect is currently in Police detention, while investigations are being intensified to arrest other suspects who may have been involved in the commission of these crimes,” Adebisi said.

She further urged any of the victims to come forward and report to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, assuring that their identities will be fully protected.

Reaffirming the Command’s commitment to justice and safety, CP Jimoh assured Lagos residents that the Police remain resolute in protecting all citizens and bringing perpetrators of violent crimes to book.

“The Command reiterates its firm commitment to protecting all residents, ensuring justice for survivors, and maintaining the security of Lagos State,” the statement added.

The suspect will be charged before the Court for the various crimes he allegedly committed against female passengers but that will be after the conclusion of investigations by the Police.
