Facts have emerged on how a Police Inspector, identified as Charles Okoro, from Anti-Robbery Section of Ikotun Division, allegedly brutally shot a 28-year old Islamic cleric, Alfa Fatai Oladipupo a.k.a Ayanfe Sheu, dead while he went to buy bread to in order to break his Ramadan fast on Wednesday evening on his street in Lagos.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Obabiyi Street off Ikotun/Igando in Ikotun area of Lagos, where he lives with his pregnant wife and two children.
According to the residents, the Police had just turned his wife, Mrs. Nafisat, to a widow and reportedly laballed the husband as a ‘One Million Boys’ member in order to cover up their track. The residents resisted and attempted to mobilize to dump his corpse at the Ikotun Police Station before the Police mobilized and forcefully removed the corpse and deposited at the mortuary in Yaba, Lagos.

The late Fatai, who was also an Islamic singer, was sent to his early grave at about 10pm as he went to the nearby shop to buy bread but was shot and he died instantly.
The Police team was said to have mobilized to impound tricycles which were operating after 8pm curfew. In process, one of the officers inside the Police vehicle shot at one of the tricycle operators, missed him and the bullets eventually hit Fatai and he bled to death.
Fatai’s death threw the whole area into confusion and the Police officers, who went for the operation, fled leaving the corpse there over fear that the residents might attack them.

However, the Police reportedly mobilized at about 2am, stormed the scene shooting sporadically and forcefully took the corpse away.
The late Fatai was married to Nafisat, who is heavily pregnant with their third child before the incident happened. He hailed from Adodo in Ota Local Government of Ogun State. He was a Mission Board Member of the Islamic group known as Yahadullahi Faoqur Aihdahim Society of Nigeria.
When P.M.EXPRESS correspondent visited Fatai’s residence, sympathizers were seen trooping in and out consoling the wife, who is expected to be delivered of a baby very soon.
Some of the residents expressed their anger over the death of Fatai, who they described as a humble and easy going person who had lived in peace with his neighbours.
The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bala Elkana, later confirmed the incident and made official statement over the alleged killing. He stated that: The Lagos State Police Command has on 20/5/2020 arrested Inspector Okoro Charles attached to Ikotun Division.
