Police operatives have busted members of human parts syndicate, who deal on assorted body parts including kidneys, heads, intestines, livers and others for sale during an operation in Ogun State.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that among the suspects arrested included an elderly woman, who reportedly chopped off a piece of human flesh and ate in a bid to convince Police detectives that what they saw was regular beef and not human flesh.
The suspects were nabbed by men of the Special Anti-Robbery team after one of the officers posed as a buyer and they brought the part demanded before they were apprehended and detained at the Command’s headquarters for further investigation.
During interrogation,  the suspect confessed that one of the human heads in their possession was going to be sold to the undercover officer for N120,000 before the Police swooped on the sellers.
The was confirmed by the Police Public Relations Officer,  SP Odutola, who stated that the suspects were undergoing interrogation over their alleged conduct.
The Police said they began investigation due to the recent increase in the recorded incidents of people disappearing without a trace and most of the parts recovered from the gang were fresh.
The gang members arrested included a grave digger, buyer, and a seller.
The human parts buyer said he has been in the business for the past 4 years and has bought human heads from the elderly woman for as little as N10,000 for spiritual purposes.
The grave digger explained that they get some of the heads by exhuming corpses from grave sites and cutting the head.
Another, a grave digger too, said all he did was dig grave for the gang for N3,000. He added that he is aware they sell human parts from the cemetery.
The elderly woman in the gang, who specialized in selling the parts, while been paraded stated: “I’ve been selling for 2 years and I sold only 10 human heads. We shred the head into tiny pieces for herbalists”.
Police said investigation continues and the suspects will be charged before Court after the conclusion of investigations by the Police.
