How Robbers Carted Away N18m Worth Of Furniture At Plaza

2 suspected robbers, Nwusular Chibuike 28 and Okereke Sunday, 43, have been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly burgling a warehouse and carting away N18m worth of furniture belonging to Evans Uzilo at a plaza.

 

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Rd. A 21, JKOT Plaza, Olojo Drive, Ojo, Lagos.

 

According to the Police, the suspects went to the warehouse at the plaza in the early hours of the morning, burgled it and carted away the items. And when the owner discovered what happened, he went to the Police at Ojo Division and reported what happened.

 

The Police moved into action and eventually arrested the suspects. Having been found culpable after interrogation, they were charged before the Ojo Magistrate Court for the alleged offence, which attracts several years of imprisonment..

 

The charges read:

COUNT I: “That you, Nwusular Chibuike ‘M’, Okereke Sunday ‘M’ and others now at large, on the 7th day of February, 2025 at about 1600hrs at Rd. A 21, JKOT Plaza, Olojo Drive, Ojo, in the Ojo Magisterial District, did conspire among yourselves to commit felony to wit Warehouse Breaking and Stealing and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 411 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.”

 

COUNT II:”That you, Nwusular Chibuike, ‘M’ and others now at large on the same date, time and place, in the aforementioned Magisterial District, did unlawfully break and enter into the Warehouse located at No: 123, Olojo Drive, Ojo, Lagos, belonging to one Evans Uzilo ‘M’ with intent to commit felony to wit stealing and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 308 (1) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.”

 

COUNT III:”That you, Nwusular Chibuike ‘M’ and others now at large on the same date, time and place, in the aforementioned Magisterial District, did steal furniture valued N18,510,000.00 (Eighteen Million Five Hun dred and Ten Thousand Naira), property of one Evans Uzilo ‘M’ and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 287 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.”

 

COUNT IV:”That you, Okereke Sunday ‘M’, on the same date, time and place, in the aforementioned Magisterial District, did dishonestly receive and retained furniture valued N18,510,000.00 (Eighteen Million, Five Hundred and Ten Thousand Naira) from one Nwusular Chibuike ‘M’ knowing same to have been stolen, property of one Evans Uzilo ‘M’ and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 328 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.”

 

They pleaded not guilty.

 

The prosecutor, Supol Uche Simeon, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.

 

The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. L.K.J Layeni, granted them bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.

 

The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendants were remanded in custody at the correctional center pending when they will perfect their bail conditions.
