It was an atmosphere of shock and surprise at the Ikeja Military Cantoment in Lagos State after daredevil armed robbers invaded the place and carted away an unregistered Toyota car worth N9m belonging to Adenola Adebowale and escaped.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the robbers were said to have invaded the Contoment at about 1am in the morning on the fateful day, forcefully opened the car with another key and drove it away despite the security in place.
In the morning, when the owner went to the place where he parked the car, he did not see it and he raised alarm which attracted other occupants in the Cantoment and they expressed shock over what happened.
The matter was reported to the Commissioner of Police and consequently the Commissioner of Police Special Squad moved into action and arrested one of the suspects, a 30-year old man, Jamiu Ibrahim.
The Police alleged Ibrahim to have conspired with others now at large and stole the vehicle. He was subsequently charged before the Ogba Magistrates Court for conspiracy and stealing under the Criminal Laws of the State.
He pleaded not guilty when he was arraigned.
The prosecutor, Inspector Innocent Odugbo, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Miss M.F Onamusi, granted him bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and addresses verified.
The matter was adjourned while the defendant was remanded in custody at the Correctional Centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
