From Abandoned Spaces to Havens of Progress and Pride:

In Anambra State, where neglect once cast long shadows over abandoned lands, Soludo has rewritten the narrative of urban decay in less than three years in office. Two iconic projects—Solution FunCity and the New Anambra Government House—are testaments to his transformative agenda, demonstrating that even the most forsaken spaces can be resurrected into symbols of progress, pride, and public purpose.

The Abandoned Waterlogged Area Reborn: Solution FunCity:

For decades, a 12.7-hectare waterlogged area in Awka languished as a dumping ground for waste, a breeding site for diseases, and a zone impacted by encroachment. Floods ravaged the nearby environment during the rainy season, while toxic fumes from burning refuse choked residents.

Soludo saw it not as a wasteland, but as an opportunity. By the end of 2023, bulldozers had cleared the abandoned lands and it was sandfilled, and engineers began shaping the land into Africa’s largest water park and amusement park—Solution FunCity, a world-class leisure and recreational hub —a destination lounge.

Today, the site features world-class attention:
• Thrilling pool water slides
• Breathtaking 40-meter drop tower
• A 500-meter rollercoaster
• A captivating Ferris wheel
• Games Arcade
• Virtual reality experiences
• Two movie cinema
• A bowling alley
• Exquisite country club
• Sports park facilities for tennis, basketball, and five aside football, among others.

For residents, this site, which once represented shame, has transformed into a source of pride. Where they once avoided, they now come to celebrate, proudly taking photos and videos to share on social media.

Breaking the 34-Year-Old Jinx: The New Anambra Government House

The old Government House, a remnant of an outdated construction yard for the construction company that built the Old Enugu – Onitsha Expressway in the 1970s, had become a symbol of bureaucratic decay, characterized by leaking roofs, faulty wiring, non-closing windows, and overcrowded offices that hampered productivity and morale and same as a Governor’s lodge being located outside the capital city, in an old Judges Quarters in Amawbia and characterized by leaking roofs, non-closing windows, that has also hampered productivity and morale.

On the 28.8 hectares of land —previously a haven for squatters—Soludo constructed a modern Government House and Governor’s Lodge befitting of Ndi Anambra in less than two years, and without borrowing a kobo.

This complex boasts:
– A solar-powered administrative block featuring smart offices
– A Governor’s Lodge
– A 1,000-capacity amphitheater
– A Deputy Governor’s Office
– Anambra Command and Control Center.
– Water Hydra System
– A fire service station
– A medical center
– 8 Lanes Boulevard Road
– Iconic Light Tower
– A 2,000-tree planting initiative to combat urban heat, among other facilities.

This is more than just an infrastructure; it signifies that Anambra deserves excellence and a dignified place after 34 years without a proper Government House and Governor’s Lodge.

A Model for Nigeria:

Soludo’s mantra—“No space is beyond resurrection” —has turned Anambra into a laboratory for urban renewal. The Vanguard Newspapers recently hailed these dual projects as “a replicable model for Nigerian cities.” At the same time, tourists and investors are flocking to Solution FunCity, and the New Government House complex has hosted numerous visitors as the project nears completion.

Beyond Bricks and Mortar:

In Anambra, even the land tells a story of resurrection. Solution FunCity and the New Government House are more than just infrastructure; they embody Soludo’s governance philosophy: transformation, breaking jinxes, and fostering audacious hope. By converting abandoned lands into centers for leisure and governance, Soludo has demonstrated that leadership is not just about managing resources but about reimagining possibilities.
