How To Know Your Purpose

Let me bring my series of expositions on the subjects of Potential, Dream and Purpose to a logical conclusion. The bone of contention in this special piece is that knowing who you are is one ball game but knowing your core purpose in humanity is another ball game entirely. A notion proposed and popularized by Myles Munroe goes, “When purpose is not known, abuse is inevitable.

The purpose of a knife, razor and certain other sharp materials, for instance, are basically to add value to mankind in one way or the other. Yet, it has been grossly abused to cause tears sorrow and bloodletting in human race. One of the greatest tragedies in human race is to know who you are but not to know where you fit-in in the scheme of things. In other words, you know your identity but you are lost in the passageway of human race regarding your place of primary relevance.

It is common knowledge that if you don’t know what you live for, you will die for just anything and you’d end up living for nothing! When a man misses or loses his purpose, humanity ultimately is shortchanged of another treasure of inestimable value and gallantly records another irrecoverable forfeiture of an untapped potential. If you knew what a great jeopardy your failure or refusal to find and fulfill your purpose could cost your generation and the generations yet unborn, you will not take this singular obligation with levity.

You cannot know what you are made for except you first know and recognize the One who made you. Your purpose is hid in the agenda of your maker. There are peace maker and there are peace breaker. There are motivators and there are manipulators. There are bridge builders and there are barrier brewers. There are morale boosters and there are morale killers. But your purpose is purely to add value to mankind in your own unique way and anything short of that makes you a misfit and unfit in any sane and humane human society.
