A 35-year old wanted notorious killer, Ifasoji Ayangbesan, has been arrested after his failed attempts to bribe the Police with N1m bribe over the killing a victim for ritual purposes in Ogun State.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that men of the Ogun State Police Command on 28th April, 2023, arrested, Ayangbesan, a member of the notorious ritual syndicate, who killed and dismembered the body of a victim, Oyindamola Adeyemi, at Ijebu Ode on 28th January 2023.
This was disclosed by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Oyeyemi, who confirmed that the suspect was in Police custody undergoing interrogation over his alleged involvement in the dastardly act.
He stated that other members of his gang had earlier been arrested following  painstaking intelligence based investigation embarked upon by detectives from Obalende Divisional Headquarters.
The other suspects were arrested at their hideout at Ijade Iloti area of Ijebu Ode, while Ayangbesan, who was indicted by the earlier arrested members of the syndicate as the person who bought the two legs of the victim, took to flight immediately he heard that he has been mentioned by his colleagues.
However, the DPO Obalende Division, SP Murphy Salami, had detailed his detectives to be on his trail with the view to arrest him and possibly recover the deceased two legs from him and prosecute him with his colleagues in crime.
He ran out of luck when he was apprehended at his Ijade Iloti hideout on the 28th of April, 2023. Immediately he was arrested, the suspect made an offer of one million Naira cash as bribe to the Policemen, which was rejected.
While being interrogated, he confessed being part of the syndicate that killed Oyindamola Adeyemi, and that he was the person who severed the two legs of the deceased, which he claimed he used for ritual purpose.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Olanrewaju Yomi Oladimeji, who commended his men for their uprightness, has directed that the suspect be transferred to State Criminal Investigation Departments in order to prosecute him with other members of his syndicate.
The suspects may likely be charged for murder under the Criminal law of the State but that will be after the conclusion of investigations by the Police.
