CYRIACUS IZUEKWE
Human Rights Activist and Public Affairs analyst, Comrade Vincent Ezekwueme, has decried and lamented over the pathetic, despicable and pitiable condition of the abandoned Ugwuakwu-Ibughubu Umuchu Road in Aguata Local Government, Anambra State.
Ezekwueme disclosed that the community has not only been disconnected from accessing other villages and towns but most pathetic that it has affected many houses and homes, that if urgent steps are not taking by Government in view of the rainy season, it will be devastating.
“We most passionately appeal to His Excellency Chief Dr Willie Obiano to direct the contractor handling the project to go back to site and commence work on the road in order to save lives and properties of inhabitants.”
“Torrential downpour has caused unprecedented flooding and erosion, indicating urgent and immediate measures should be taken towards tackling the ravaging and devastating erosion menace.”
“It is very unfortunate that the situation is worsening, expanding and deepening due to the rainy season.”
“His Excellency should out of his magnanimity and love for the citizenry order his Commissioner for Works, and Environment to visit the affected areas for the State Government to understand the plight, predicament and problem of the people at the mercy of unprecedented flooding, erosion and dilapidated condition of the uncompleted Ugwuakwu -Ibughubu Umuchu Road, which has made it impossible to access other villages and towns through the road.”
“We equally extol and commend you for awarding the contract. We will remain eternally grateful to you as the first Governor to have constructed road in Ugwuakwu-Umuchu. Hoping for the fulfillment of your promise to upgrade Umuchu General Hospital as Centre for Primary Health Insurance Scheme” Ezekwueme pleaded with Gov. Obiano.
