Husband Beats Wife To Death

A 40-year old man, Kingsley Madukwe, from Ihiala in Anambra State, was arrested by the men of the Ogun State Police Command on Wednesday 11th September, 2019, for beating his 40-year old wife, Glory Madukwe, to death.
     
According to the Ogun Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, the arrest of the suspect followed a report by one Chief Rafiu Gbadamosi, the Baale of Egando in Atan-Ota, that the couple had a minor misunderstanding as a result of which the husband beat the wife to death at about 11:30pm.
On the strength of the report, the DPO Atan Ota Division, SP Salau Abiodun, led detectives to the scene where the husband was promptly arrested. On interrogation, the suspect, a commercial motorcycle rider, stated that his late wife, a mother of eight, was nursing a month old baby and that the baby was crying which made him to wake his wife up to breastfeed the baby.  The husband, Mr. Kingsley said his wife refused claiming that she was too tired to breastfeed the baby at that time.
He stated further that his wife got up, was going to the living room leaving the baby behind and that got him angry. Consequent upon which he drew her back and gave her a hot slap. Upon landing her the slap, the wife fell down and died on the spot. Her corpse has been deposited at General Hospital, Ota, mortuary for post mortem examination.
Meanwhile, the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, CP Bashir Makama, has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation and intelligence Department for further investigation and prosecution.
