A 28-year old, Michael Oladunjoye and his wife, Sephia have landed in prison after they reportedly attacked a police sergeant, Akam Isaac and bit off part of his finger.
The incident happened along Allen Avenue in Ikeja where the victim was deployed to perform his official duty.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that they were charged before Ikeja Magistrates court and were remanded in prison custody at Kirikiri, Lagos, while the victim was said to be receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital over the assault.
It all started at Allen Avenue while they were driving and the officer, Akam Isaac accosted them for contravening undisclosed traffic offence.
P.M.EXPRESS gathered that instead of the couple to responsibly cooperate with the officer, they reportedly engaged the victim in hot exchange of words and the victim then insisted that they must follow him to the police station for the alleged offence.
They however refused and said they were going to their children’s school to take them home.
The confrontation resulted in the couple and the victim engaging in a public fight and in the process, Sephia reportedly forced the officer’s finger into her mouth and bit off part of it.
The victim’s police uniform was torn after he was severely beaten before rescue came which prevented them from further assaulting the officer.
The victim then contacted their DPO at Ikeja Division who mobilised some officers who came to the scene and rescued the victim.
The suspects were also arrested and detained at Ikeja Police Division.
They were charged before the court and they pleaded not guilty.
The presiding Magistrate, Mrs C.A. Layinka granted them bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties each in like sum.
They were remanded in prison pending when they will perfect their bail condition.
The matter was adjourned till 1st of August, 2017.
P.M.EXPRESS gathered that following the incident and remand in custody, the couple could not take their children from school back home and the school management were said to have taken custody of their children.
