A 47-year old man, Olusegun Arikawe and his wife, Bisi have landed in prison after they were said to be caught dealing on and smoking some substances suspected to be Indian hemp on the street in Lagos.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened in the evening at Alaje Street, off Deacon Abel Street, Isheri Oshun in the outskirts of Lagos where they resided.
It was gathered that the couple who had been married for some years left their children at home in the evening and went out to smoke Indian hemp at a popular joint in the area. However, after taking some raps of the substance they were said to have behaved in disorderly manner. Unfortunately, the police on patrol saw them and raided the joint.
They were arrested and taken to the police station where they were detained. At the police station, it was discovered that they were a husband and wife who had been addicted to the substance over the years despite the fact that they had children. Some of the substances were also recovered and kept at the police station as exhibits.
They were later charged before Isolo Magistrates court for dealing and being in possession of Indian hemp.
They pleaded not guilty.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O.A. Teluwo granted them bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum.
The prosecutor, Mr. Oje Uagbale did not object to their bail.
They were remanded in prison custody pending when they will perfect their bail condition.
The matter was adjourned till 5 May, 2018.
