The Chairman of Council of traditional rulers of Igbo Community and Ezendigbo Lagos State, Eze Christian Uchechukwu Nwachukwu, has debunked the rumours going on in the social media that he knelt down for the Sultan of Sokoto and Emirs during the inauguration of Inter Tribal Traditional Leaders of Association of Nigeria in Kano State.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that Eze Nwachukwu stated this on the heels of the insinuation by mischief makers, who are trying to make up things from nothing due to his rising profile and acceptability by Traditional leaders across Nigeria.

He explained that he was among the traditional rulers across the 36 States invited for the inauguration by the Governor of Kano and the Sultan of Sokoto, Emir of Kano and top eminent traditional rulers across Nigeria.

He said when his name was mentioned as the Ezendigbo Lagos State, the Sultan wanted to speak to him and he went to the high table where the Sultan was. He said that the Sultan was speaking to him in Igbo language and because of the noise of the public address system, he did not hear him clearly and so he bent down to hear him proper.

Nwachukwu stated that despite the fact that he did not kneel down for the Sultan or any traditional ruler at the event, he has high regard for the office of the Sultan of Sokoto and the Emirs because they occupy important traditional institutional stools for the maintenance of peace in Nigeria.

He recalled the period the Igbo were given quit notice to leave the Northern States, the Sultan and other Emirs played important role to ensure that the Igbos were protected and did not leave the North.

Eze Nwachukwu, who is also the National Treasurer of Council of Igbo traditional rulers in Nigeria and Diaspora, warned that he was not against constructive criticism but would not accepted blackmail from mischief makers, who would want to cause conflict among the ethnic groups who are working tirelessly to bring peace in Nigeria.

Speaking on the new association, Eze Nwachukwu said it was a welcome development to bring peace in Nigeria, stressing that the aim was to unite and build bridges  across Nigerian despite the religion and ethnic background.

He stated that having inaugurated the association, part of his duty as Ezendigbo Lagos State is to mobilize the traditional rulers to join the group in order to sensitize the people on the need to live in peace in Nigeria.

Nwachukwu said he and the members will reach out to the Lagos State Government, Oba of Lagos Council, National Leader of the APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to intimate them on the objectives of the association which involves unity in diversity and would spread so to other States across Nigeria.
