I Have Come Home To Serve My People – Soludo

RAYMOND OZOJI

Judging from his childhood days to his present day, one could describe Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo as a beneficiary of divine providence. The gentleman didn’t begin his journey of life with a soft-landing nor with a rose in his hand but an act of God manifested in his life and he became a David who conquered Goliath ! Just like Joseph, a foreigner who became a king in the land of Egypt, Prof. Soludo who started out from the village farmland assisting his mother in cultivating cassava, yam, maize and other food crops, took his destiny in his own hands and expanded his horizon. Soludo never believed in ” I Can’t Do It” but believes very strongly in the ” Can Do Spirit” which has taken him from a small village in Isuofia Anambra state beyond the shores of the African continent.

As a senior prefect at Uga Boys High School Aguata local government area of Anambra state, no seer nor anyone with telepathic powers ever proclaimed or prophesied to him that he would become the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria or he would graduate with a First Class Honours from the University of Nigeria Nsukka Enugu state. All these were made possible through dint of hard work, patience, long suffering and the Grace of God upon his life. Few months ago, enemies of his progress attempted to kill him just because of his burning desire to govern Anambra state. The same antagonistic elements are plotting his downfall at the forthcoming November 6 governorship election. Why ? Soludo can not question God for being merciful and magnanimous with him because the firewood of this world is for only those who can take heart.

Anambra state under the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has seen better days unlike when things fell apart and anarchy was loosed upon Anambra because villains and vipers reduced the state to a jungle. Anambra people fasted and prayed like the Israelites in the days of the Holocaust and God answered with the advent of the All Progressives Grand Alliance from whence the people heaved a sigh of relief from catastrophes and all manner of destructions and had a breathe of fresh air. History will certainly be kind to all APGA governors especially Governor Willie Obiano who has transformed Anambra from being a home for all to the light of the nation. As Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo prepares to take over from the incumbent governor come November 6, 2021, it is certainly apposite to ask, what offence did Soludo commit for aspiring to be the next governor of Anambra state ?

Indeed Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo didn’t offend anyone but the bone of contention ever since his declaration of interest to take over from Governor Willie Obiano has been that he is too big to condescend so low to govern just a state when of course he has become the governor of the 36 states of the federation including the federal capital territory Abuja when he was the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria. Is it therefore a trespass or overstepping his bounds for deciding voluntarily to return to his home state to serve his people ? It would also be most unfair to discredit him and to infer that Anambra state does not require a governor in the person of Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo because if Charly Nwa-Mgbafor could stabilise the Nigerian Banking Sector without traces of financial improprieties, culpable tendencies and corruption of any kind many years after as well as revamped many failed economies across the globe, is it not in the best interest of Ndi-Anambra to repose confidence in Prof. Soludo who has at the different fora assured citizens of a viable, virile and vibrant economy where job availability will be the order of the day.

Prof. Soludo has always made it categorically clear that he has returned home to serve his people. That Anambra citizens should entrust their mandate with him come November 6, 2021. Although it is often said that a prophet is insignificant in his country home but in the fullness of time the same prophet becomes the most significant solution to many a problem. However, the future holds greater prospects and potentials for Anambra state should Soludo succeed at the governorship election because the advent of the International Cargo and Passenger Airport, the mountainous International Conference Centre and a host of other signature projects of the Willie Obiano administration required someone in the caliber and person of Prof. Soludo to effectively manage those infrastructures and investments to the advantage of Ndi-Anambra.
