The PDP Candidate for Imo East Senatorial District, Hon Barr. Uche Onyeagocha, has renewed his commitment to ensure the welfare of persons living with disability.
Hon. Onyeagocha stated this when he received in audience a group of disabled persons who paid him a solidarity visit in his hometown Obinze, Owerri West recently.
He promised to advocate for a policy document aimed at improving the welfare and ameliorating the sufferings of persons living with disabilities.
“It is unfortunate that Nigerians living with disabilities have continued to lose their sense of belonging in the society, as growing stigmatisation and discrimination persist, leaving them at the mercy of what the society and government think of them. I promise to be a strong advocate for the welfare of the disabled by advocating for a policy document that will ameliorate the welfare of those living with disabilities in our society.”
Hon. Onyeagocha promised his relentless commitment in ensuring the protection of the welfare of the disabled especially in advocating for an improved living conditions in their chosen careers.
In his reaction, the leader of the group, Mr. Mike Chukwu, described Onyeagocha as a friend of the disabled who has always shown concern and esteemed commitment on the affairs of the disabled in the society. He narrated how Hon. Onyeagocha has always stand with the disabled in the state.
“We are happy to identify with Hon. Onyeagocha. He is a great leader and man of the people. We have great confidence in him and believe we will continue to stand with him and always pray to God to grant him Victory in the forthcoming election.”
The group endorsed Hon. Onyeagocha for Senate and assured him of their unalloyed and esteemed support.
Hon. Onyeagocha further charged them not to be dettered by their disabilities rather to see themselves as great citizens of the Nigerian society. He later urged them to remain focused and strong.
