A 36-year old man, Adebowale Seun, who was arrested by the Police operatives from Ejigbo Division led by the DPO, CSP Olabisi Okuwobi, for allegedly burgling a popular Church and stealing some musical equipment, has confessed that he did so in order to raise money to start business.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspect, Seun, escaped lynching by the residents after he was caught at Eagles Assembly Church located at Tony Chenko Close, Ejigbo area of Lagos, in the early hours of the morning when he burgled the Church to steal two amplifiers worth thousands of Naira. However, while he was escaping after carting away the items that early morning, the security man on duty, who saw him, raised alarm which attracted other residents and they tried to mob him before the Police intervened and rescued him to the Station.
While the suspect, Seun, was being interrogated by the residents, he said that he came all the way from Itele Community in Ogun State to Ejigbo in order to steal in the Church because he had attended the Church to monitor their activities over a period of time.He claimed that he had wanted to use the items he stole for rentals in his area and had no money to buy them. And so he remembered that the Church had the items and plotted to cart them away. He was said to have come to Ejigbo and went to a nearby hotel known as  Rommy and Juliet. But when he discovered that the coast was not clear, he shifted the operation till the early hours of the morning.
The suspect said that he had to sleep at Ikotun Roundabout, where the road construction was going on before he woke up at about 4am and stormed the Church but was eventually caught. He was said to have confessed that he hails from Ikorodu and is married with wife and a child and was into selling of second hand clothes which was not giving him enough money before he decided to go into stealing.
When P.M.EXPRESS reporter went to the Church, it was under lock and key. However, the Pastor of the church, Rev. Joachim Oloye, was contacted and he confirmed the incident wondering how Seun knew about his Church and came all the way from Ogun State to Ejigbo in order to steal. He said he was not a member of the Church and wanted the Police to dig more to uncover those Seun may be working with in the area because he was said to have made several calls from his phones before the operation.
The suspect was seen detained at the Ejigbo Police Station but P.M.EXPRESS correspondent was unable to speak with the DPO who was said to have gone out for monitoring in the area. However, sources at the Station said that the suspect will be charged to Court for the alleged offence.
