Not given to the flamboyance and egregious ways associated with most of our politicians, he is one quiet individual that’ll rather prefer that the work he is doing does all the talking for him.

These qualities and more are the reasons why OIL88 as Honorable Olanrewaju Ibrahim Layode is fondly called by friends and members of his constituency, have reposed their trust on him with their mandate as their eyes and ears in the Lagos State House of Assembly.

His care and compassion as well as sense of responsibility was further displayed in the past couple of days as he has been on the forefront of the awareness drive in his Badagry Constituency 1 area, in the enlightenment and awareness program for the dreaded coronavirus pandemic.

Layode not only has been doing a lot in collaborating with the local chiefs and indigents in the awareness drive, he has also been in the forefront of making palliative items available to his people.

Some of the items already distributed to the people in large quantity include rice, frozen chicken and turkey, vegetable oil, beans and garri.

He also made cash stipends available to some members of his constituency in order to help them cope with the hard effect of the lockdown declared by the Federal Government.

Born on November 10, 1973, Layode holds National Certificate of Education, NCE, Bachelor of Art Degree and a Master in Public Administration degree.

He has been a member of the Lagos State House of Assembly since 2007, and has at various times been identified as one of the most active members of the Assembly.

On his fourth term in the assembly, OIL 88 is considered one of the senior law makers in the house.

Honorable Layode was one of those who spoke out and lent their voices to the creation for Southwest security initiative, “Operation Amotekun” when it was first raised by the governors of the States of Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Osun, Ondo and Ekiti States.

As at the time Layode threw his weight behind the security initiative, it was not so popular a move but he was far seeing enough to risk his name in supporting the idea because according to him, it is one of the things needed to secure the southwest region from the plethora of attacks against the region at the time.
