All is now set for the dedication of Ibughubu Community multi-million Naira civic centre that took over 35 years to be completed in Umuchu, Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State.
Hundreds of the indigenes in Diaspora were said to be coming home for the epoch dedication which is slated to take place on 31st December, 2018. Dignities within Anambra State and outside have been invited to the event which will be chaired by the Managing Director, Christian David International, Mr. Christian Okwuogu, while the Chief Host and Guest of Honour is HRM Igwe G.O Ezechukwu. Other important guests include Chief Godwin Ezeemo, Hon. Mrs. Eucharia Azodo, Sir Benchuks Amarube and many others.
P.M.EXPRESS gathered that the past leaders in the community started and tried to complete the civic center to no avail for those number of years until the present chairman of the community, Ogbuefi Raph Njirika, took over and ensured its completion.
What surprised many indigenes was the passion put in place for the completion of the hall by the present leadership led by Njirika and how he was able to do it.
According to Njirika, that was made possible because of the confidence and the trust the people reposed in him. He said that when he took over, the first thing he did was to plan out what he wanted to achieve and the completion of the hall was one of his priorities and he started making moves to accomplish it.
Njirika noted that there were illustrious sons and daughters who wished that there will be trusted leadership they can entrust their money to invest on the centre. He said he only provided the leadership, then mobilized individuals and groups of people and they started donating money for the completion of the project. He thanked those who had assisted in one way or the other and ensured that the centre was completed.
P.M.EXPRESS investigation revealed that the completion of the project was part of thought out plans by the community’s Lagos Branch Women’s Wing who used a cultural dance to raised N1m which they gave to the leadership as morale booster and motivated respected individuals massively to donate both materials and funds for the project.
The leader of the Ibughubu Improvement Union (I.I.U. Women Wing), Mrs. Ifesinachi Izuekwe, explained why then embarked on the cultural dance to raise money for the centre. She said that when she was elected as the chairperson, she mobilised the women and set the completion of the centre as top priority and with the support of the women they were able to convince their men to invest in the project.
Mrs. Izuekwe said that she was grateful to God that the jinx was finally broken and it means that other developments will come to the community because their people can now have stronger confidence in the leadership of the community.
