The leadership and people of Ibughubu village, Umuchu in Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State, have commended the former Mayor of Aguata Local Government Council, Dr Chibueze Ofobuike, popularly known as Ezeakunne Umuchu, for his performance in office.

In a statement signed by the Chairman of Ibughubu village, Hon. Innocent Alaebo, the community said Dr Ofobuike carried out people-oriented projects, from which Ibughubu benefited.

According to the community, the former Mayor demonstrated commitment and accessibility in the delivery of grassroots projects during his tenure.

“Dear Mayor Ezeakunne, you went, saw and conquered local government administration through your people-oriented projects which our community benefited from. We are really proud of you,” the statement read.

The community also thanked the Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Charles Soludo, for giving Dr Ofobuike the opportunity to serve.

“We thank the Governor of Anambra State, Prof Charles Soludo, for giving you a chance to prove yourself, where you gave your best,” they stated.

The village leadership said Dr Ofobuike gave local government administration a practical definition through his approach to governance, adding that his tenure would remain a reference point for effective grassroots leadership.

They noted that his tenure made community leadership easier because of his constant presence and support whenever they called on him.

“With you at the helm of the local government, it became easy for us at the community leadership level because of your presence and support whenever we beckoned on you,” the statement added.

The community expressed optimism that his aspiration for a seat in the House of Representatives would bring further benefits to the people of Aguata and beyond.

“We earnestly believe that with you at the Green Chamber, it can only get better, easier and seamless for us,” they said.

While pledging support for his political ambition, the people of Ibughubu said appreciation for good work encourages more work.

“As you are aiming for a slot at the Green Chamber, we do not doubt your capabilities to excel. Therefore, we promise you can count on our unalloyed support for your dreams to come true because we all need you even more than you need us,” the statement read.

The community concluded with the Igbo proverb, “Ochiri mma ga achi ozo,” meaning one who does well deserves another opportunity, expressing confidence in his suitability for national assignment.

Hon. Alaebo reaffirmed that the entire Ibughubu village stands firmly behind Dr Ofobuike as he seeks higher office, stressing that the endorsement reflects the collective will of the people.

Observers in Aguata say community-level support often plays a significant role in grassroots mobilisation ahead of elections, noting that such endorsements can shape political direction at the local level.

They added that Dr Ofobuike’s time as Mayor earned him wide recognition in Umuchu and neighbouring communities.

Supporters say Dr Ofobuike has declared interest in the House of Representatives race ahead of the 2027 general elections, adding that his record in Aguata will speak for him.
