KINGSLEY EBERE

A critical Igbo stakeholder, Ichie Anselm Njoku, popularly known as Anatu Anatu, has warned Ndieze in Lagos State to desist from creating kingdoms by using His Royal Highnes titles in another man’ land to avoid problem with host communities.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that Ichie Njoku, also known as Akeweje, stated this during the inauguration of the electoral committee by the Igbo Speaking community led by Chief Sunday Udeh in Surulere, Lagos.

He explained that such titles like His Royal Highness or Majesty belongs to the Obas, who are the owners of the land and there can only be one His Royal Highness in the particular jurisdiction.

Ichie Njoku stated that for Ndieze to be using such titles may be misinterpreted that they are dragging kingdoms with the leaders of the host community in Lagos State and therefore, they should stop using such titles in the State.

He also explained that there is nothing like Igbo kingdom in Yoruba land because you cannot create kingdom in another man’s land “therefore any Eze crowned in Lagos State should avoid using such names or titles that may cause misunderstanding between Ndigbo leaders and the host community in the State”.

Chief Njoku also noted the challenges within Ndieze and called for the harmonization of crowning of Ezendigbo in Lagos State so that the position will be respected.

He suggested that Ndigbo should form a central committee that will be in charge of crowning of Ndieze from both the Igbo Speaking Community and Ohanaeze Ndigbo so that crowning of Ezeship will not be abused in future.

He advised Ndigbo to be united and speak with one voice, stressing that if Ndigbo speak with one voice,  there is nothing they want from the State Government that they will not get.

He commended the Igbo Speaking Community, Lagos State especially the factions led by Chief Sunday Eze and Sunday Udeh for making sacrifices to restore peace in the community.

Njoku urged others factions in Igbo organizations like Ohanaeze who have not known peace for years to emulate Igbo Speaking and embrace peace among themselves and resolve their crisis.

He also advised Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos State to embrace peace now that the President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Senator John Mbata has recognized Chief Solomon Aguene based on the Lagos State High Court consent judgment.

He explained that Senator John Mbata was right in his decision to have recognized Chief Aguene based on the judgment because it supercedes the constitution of Ohanaeze Ndigbo.

However, he advised them to embrace peace just as Igbo Speaking community has done so that there could be an election of new leadership because their tenure will elapse in 2026 respectively.

He also commended Ndigbo for their resilience and enterprise capabilities noting that they are hardworking and can excel in any environment they find themselves.
