In a bid to resuscitate sporting activities, promote physical fitness and unity in the Local Government, especially among the Youths, the Executive Chairman of Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government, Prince Usman Akanbi Hamzat (UAH), has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with MEADE Company.
With this development, Ifako-Ijaiye is expected to produce team of players (across the 7 wards) that will form formidable football Leagues. Meanwhile, other external football clubs will also benefit from the sporting opportunities.
Explaining further, Dolapo Macaulay (Managing Director of MEADE Company), said that the scope of the initiative also covers Inter-School sports competitions among schools in Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government, including basketball.
A spectacular aspect is that the new FIFA Virtual League will be initiated in Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government, being the first of its kind in Nigeria.
More importantly, talks are on to open up other opportunities on scouting for talents among young persons in Ifako-Ijaiye to join selected football academies outside Nigeria.
However, it is expected that a website and formal launch of the initiative will be organized in the coming weeks.
