Ifeoma Nwankwo, Member of the Board of Governing Council, University of Ibadan, Oyo State, has congratulated Dr. (Mrs.) Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala on her re-emergence for a second term as Director General of the World Trade Organisation (WTO).
Okonjo—Iweala emerged as the sole candidate for the exalted position from a selection process, which has allowed her to remain in the office for another term.
Recall that the renowned technocrat and international personality was the first female to ascend to such an exalted and enviable global office.
In a statement on Saturday, Nwankwo said the re-appointment of Okonjo–Iweala was a further testament to the calibre of content Nigerians are composed of and the quality of contributions to global growth and development.
“I wish her all the best in her current appointment as she consolidates in office to innovate optimum valued services for the global trade community.”
Nwankwo continued, “I must also congratulate Nigeria and Nigerians on the attainment and sustainability of this rare feat achieved by Dr Ngozi and numerous other well-meaning Nigerians”.
