Igbo Apex Leader, Chief Solomon Ogbonna Now National Patron, Nigeria Football Supporters Club

Igbo Apex Leader and President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Lagos State, Chief Solomon Ogbonna, has been conferred the honour as the National Patron of the Nigeria Football Supporters Club, NFSC.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the ceremony took place at the Ohanaeze Secretariat known as Igbo House, located at James Robinson Street, Surulere, Lagos and witnessed by the NFSC and top Igbo leaders including the former President of Igbo Speaking Community, Lagos State, Chief Chris Ekwilo.

The  Chairman of the NFSC, Ambassador (Rev.) Samuel Ikpea, who came to the Igbo House with top members of the club, stated that Chief Ogbonna was given the honour for his outstanding performance as the leader of Igbo and leadership virtues, which has given the Igbo direction in Lagos State.

He also noted that apart from leadership qualities, Chief Ogbonna has a heart of kindness because he has touched the lives of many people in need through his philanthropic gesture including the youths in Nigeria.

He stated that the club needs Chief Ogbonna in the club because he is a lover of football and his presence will assist the club in many ways including connecting the club to people that will assist to move the club to the next level.

In response, Chief Ogbonna thanked the members of the club for finding him worthy to be their National Patron and stated that it is an honour he will not take for granted.

He stated that he will support the club to move to the next level by bringing ideas and financial support including connecting the club to the people, who will support the club to achieve their set goals.


Chief Chris Ekwilo described Chief Ogbonna as the great leader ever produced in Lagos State since the creation of Ohanaeze over some decades ago because of his vision and the ongoing transformation agenda for Igbo in Lagos State.

He thanked the club for honouring Chief Ogbonna and stated that they have taken the right step because he will connect them to the people that will assist to move the club to the next level.

The event got to the climax with the singing and dancing by the members of the club, Chief Ogbonna and members of Ohanaeze, who were present at the event and later all round entertainment.
