Igbo Asked To Preserve Her Cultural Heritage

The traditional ruler of Ndigbo in Mushin, Lagos, Eze John C. Nwosu has urged the Igbo to always remember their culture and preserve it for the future generation.
Eze Nwosu made the call on Saturday during the Igbo Cultural Day held at Bishop Aggey Memorial Secondary School field, Ilasamaja, Mushin, Lagos organised by the Obi Eziokwu Palace Mushin.
He said every tribe is known for its peculiarity which is its culture and urged there was every need for Igbo to preserve theirs despite where such Igbo resides.
He observed the Igbo culture was gradually dying and tasked Igbo leaders to show more commitment to ensure it did not go into extinction.
Nwosu, also known as Ohama Dike said, hence the need to organise the event to showcase the culture so the children born out of Igbo Land will know that Igbo has culture.
He also explained that the event was organised every year to bring the Igbo sons and daughters together to exchange ideas and pursue common goals for progress.
Nwosu advised the Igbo to remember they came from somewhere and while they are investing, they should equally think and direct some of their investments to their home land for retirement.
Hundreds of Igbo and non-Igbo attended the event where Igbo cultural heritage was displayed to showcase some of the culture.

Market men and women were not left out as some markets dominated by Igbo left their shops and attended the event which was the fifth series.
Also government officials including the representatives of the Lagos State government, South east states government, some local governments in Lagos State and the Olu of Mushin were all there.
Traditional rulers from the South east also attended this year event.
Among the cultural heritage displayed at the event include masquerades, dance groups and other entertainments of Igbo culture.
They also used the occasion to launch an Igbo drama to educate the viewers on some of the cultural heritage of Ndigbo.
