The upcoming Governorship and State House of Assembly elections got a big boost for the governing party following the endorsement of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s reelection bid and other APC candidates by Igbo community in Oshodi /Isolo Local Government Area of Lagos State.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that it was the outcome of the meeting of Igbo stakeholders led by the Ezendigbo in Lagos State, Eze Christian Uchechukwu Nwachukwu and top party leaders led by the ICC Director of Ethnic groups in Lagos State, Mr. Philip  Adewale.
The meeting, which was held at the Igbo Community Centre in Ago Okota, was attended by the Party leaders from the six Wards and the Igbo leaders in the LG comprising men and women.
The Igbo traditional rulers, Ohanaeze Ndigbo and various Igbo groups were fully represented at the meeting which lasted for several hours. The Igbo poured out their grievances against the Party and its leaders, which included neglecting the Igbo members, intimidation and harassment of the Igbo in Lagos State especially after the last Presidential/National Assembly elections.
However, they were able to dialogue and resolved to work together to deliver the APC candidates in the LG and indeed Lagos State.
Speaking on behalf of the traditional rulers, Eze Nwachukwu stated that the Igbo have resolved to support the reelection bid of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and enjoined the Igbo to come out enmass and vote for APC in Oshodi/Isolo LG of Lagos State.
He explained that the Igbo had agreed to endorse Governor Sanwo-Olu and other APC candidates and there was no going back on the resolve to vote massively for Sanwo-Olu because he has demonstrated over the years that he is a friend to Ndigbo.
Eze Nwachukwu offered prayers for candidates including Hon Ladi Ajomale, who is contesting for the Lagos State House of Assembly in the constituency and directed the Igbo to start door to door campaign in order to convince other Igbo people in the LG to vote for the APC.
“Go out and mobilize for the reelection of Governor Sanwo-Olu because he will protect the interest of Ndigbo in Lagos State” Eze Nwachukwu stated.
In the same vein, an Honourable member of the Lagos State House Assembly, Hon Jude Idimogu, urged the Igbo to discountenance any negative thing being said about the APC and go out and mobilize for the party.
He explained that it is only the APC that will protect the interest of Igbo in Lagos State and the Governor Sanwo-Olu has performed and deserves reelection to continue his good work in Lagos State.
The ICC Director of Ethnic groups in Lagos State, Mr. Adewale, thanked the Igbo leaders who were present and informed them that the purpose of the meeting was to discuss and dialogue with the Igbo leaders to support the election of Governor Sanwo-Olu and other APC candidates in the election.
He stated that the Party leaders have come to hear their grievances and find solutions so that they would work with the Igbo in Oshodi/Isolo LGA and vote for APC in the coming election.
He promised that whatever may be their grievances will be addressed by the Party because the whole complaint will be reported to the Party leaders including Governor Sanwo-Olu.
The Igbo leaders, who were present at the meeting, spoke their minds on the need for the Party to carry the Igbo along, which they agreed and promised to do after the conclusion of elections.
