The President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo in Lagos State, Chief Solomon Ogbonna, has declared his support and enjoined the Igbo community to support the ruling party, APC, for the interest of Igbo in the State.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that Ogbonna stated this at the Igbo Community Centre in Okota area of Lagos during the presentation of certificate of authority to Hon. Jude Idimogu as Igbo Apex leader in APC by the traditional rulers under the Chairmanship of Ezendigbo, Eze Christian C Nwachukwu.
Chief Ogbonna noted that supporting the ruling party will ensure protection of Igbo Community interest in the State and enhance good relationship with other ethnic groups living in the State.
The epoch event was attended by traditional rulers and stakeholders from the whole Local Governments and LCDAs in the State, who welcome the decision to elect Hon. Idimogu as the new Apex Leader.
While presenting the certificate, Eze Nwachukwu said that it was a symbol of authority to Hon. Idimogu to lead the Igbo with a clear mandate to put up structures from the Wards and Local Governments towards mobilization of Igbo to join APC to correct the mistakes of past which had affected Igbo relationship with other ethnic groups during elections.
Eze Nwachukwu used the opportunity to inform the Party leaders and Lagos State Government to deal with Hon. Jude Idimogu as the leader of Igbo community in APC and anything they want to give Igbo should pass through him because he is trusted by Igbo and would listen to him.
“The era of impunity among the Igbo leaders in APC in the State has gone with the coming of Idimogu and the Igbo Community in the State has agreed to embrace APC” Nwachukwu said.
He noted that since the mantle of leadership was given to Hon. Idimogu, he has already started the restructuring and mobilization of Igbo in the Wards and Local Governments in the State and enjoined the Igbo sons and daughters to give him maximum support on the mandate given him as Apex Leader.
While receiving the certificate, Hon. Idimogu thanked the Igbo Community for reposing confidence in him and stated that he has already started the mobilization to bring the Igbo to APC which will protect Igbo interest in the State. He asked all the stakeholders to join hands to build the Party which will enable the Igbo to have fair share of stake in the party.
Many dignitaries from various sectors witnessed the event including the President of Market Leaders Association of Nigeria led by Chief C. F. C. Obi. The Igbo Speaking President and other stakeholders were also present at the event and welcome the development
