The Igbo community in Lagos State has pledged its support for Mr. Tayo Ayinde as he coordinates President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda as leader of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors at the grassroots level ahead of 2027. The community also reaffirmed its support for President Tinubu and Lagos Deputy Governor, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat.
This was disclosed by the Ezendigbo of Lagos State, Eze Dr. Christian Uchechukwu Nwachukwu, during a meeting of Igbo leaders in Lagos where plans for President Tinubu’s second term bid were discussed.
According to Eze Nwachukwu, the decision was based on Ayinde’s long-standing relationship with Ndigbo in Lagos and the administration’s inclusive policies.
“The Igbo community has a good relationship with Mr. Tayo Ayinde over the years. He is our in-law and also a recognized Igbo chieftaincy title holder. He has worked with the Igbo in the past, and we know him to be a good and honest person to work with,” Eze Nwachukwu said.
“We also use this opportunity to pledge our unalloyed support to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and our own Deputy Governor, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat. The Renewed Hope Agenda is working, and Lagos continues to be a home for all of us.”
Mr. Tayo Ayinde is the Chief of Staff to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu. He also serves as the Lagos State Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors.
The Renewed Hope Ambassadors is the grassroots mobilization group for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope Agenda” in Lagos State. The group is tasked with sensitizing residents on government policies, programmes, and the achievements of the Tinubu administration.
Ayinde has been visible in the role. In August 2026, he led a delegation of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, Lagos State, on a condolence visit to the family of late Nollywood Actor, Taiwo Hassan “Ogogo” in Ilaro, Ogun State.
Political observers say Ayinde’s dual role places him at the center of governance in Lagos and the President’s political structure in the state. As Chief of Staff, he coordinates government activities, while as Renewed Hope Ambassador, he coordinates the President Tinubu Renewed Hope structure at the state level.
Eze Nwachukwu added that the Igbo community, being one of the largest non-indigenous groups in Lagos, will mobilize traders, artisans, professionals, and youth to support initiatives that align with the objectives of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors.
“We believe in Lagos as a melting pot. Our people contribute to the economy of this state daily. With leaders like Mr. Ayinde, President Tinubu, and Deputy Governor Hamzat who understand us, we are confident that Igbo interests will be protected as we move toward 2027,” he stated.
