The Board of Trustees of the Igbo Speaking Community, Lagos State, has made an official statement concerning the rumours going on that Chief Sunday Udeh should dissolve the board and appoint new members.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the official statement was made by the chairman of the BOT of the Igbo Speaking Community, Dr Jonathan Nnaji.
The statement came with the caption:
“Official Statement from Dr. Jonathan Nnaji, Chairman, Board of Trustees, Igbo Speaking Community, Lagos State “
“Regarding the recent rumours suggesting that Chief Sunday Udeh should dissolve the Board of Trustees and create a new one, I, Dr. Jonathan Nnaji, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, wish to address these claims.”
“Such comments are laughable and irrational, stemming from individuals who are ignorant of the limitations of the President of the Igbo Speaking Community as outlined in our Constitution. I refrain from reacting to rumours and claims from uninformed individuals who speak on matters they do not understand.”
“However, for clarity and educational purposes, I am reacting to these false comments, which are being championed by self-proclaimed Ezendigbo and self-acclaimed lawyers.”
“The Board of Trustees is the custodian of the Igbo Speaking Community and the President and his executives have no power to dissolve the Board or appoint its members.”
“The Board’s creation is enshrined in the Constitution, and its members have the authority to appoint new members and notify the community of changes, which are then effected at the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) registration.”
“I would like to inform the self-acclaimed Eze in the diaspora, who wishes to be Board Chairman, to engage in more reasonable pursuits, as individuals of this nature are not qualified to be members of the Board of Trustees. For the avoidance of doubt, Board of Trustees members conduct their elections independently.”
“As a former President of our community, I assure the public that no amount of distractions will hinder the Board from completing its peaceful journey. The President has no power to submit names or dissolve the Board, as the President cannot be sued or held liable for any consequences of actions by the group.”
“The Board’s focus is on bringing lasting peace to the Igbo Speaking Community, which we have been working tirelessly to achieve and consolidate for unity. The next stage of the peace process is the conduct of the election and profiling and uniting Ndieze under the Council of Ezendigbo created in 2003.”
“To be clear: “BOT is a no-go area for the President because it is not part of his engagement” Dr. Jonathan Nnaji concluded.
