Probably, when the members of the Igbo Speaking Community, Lagos, elected their new executives, they never envisaged what was waiting for them barely six months after their inauguration.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that there are strong indications that all the money gotten during the inauguration, which were paid into the community’s bank account with President General, Chief Sunday Udeh and his Deputy for Special Duties, Mr. Chucks Odimegwu as signatories may have disappeared and remain unaccounted for.
This was disclosed by the Deputy President General of the Igbo Speaking Community and Chairman of the inauguration committee, Ambassador Michelin Anthony, in the voice notes being circulated on the social media.
Amb. Anthony revealed that he was not able to render a comprehensive account of the inauguration money because Chief Sunday Udeh and Chucks Odimegwu refused to print out details of monies paid into the account because they are the only signatories to the bank account.
The account in question was said to have been used for payment of installation of numerous Ezendigbo and the Obi Ndigbo that landed Udeh in trouble.
He also revealed that apart from the money in the bank, he gave the Secretary General of the Igbo Speaking Community, Chief Joshua Kalu, some amount of money which he had not rendered account for.
The bone of contention, as gathered by this medium, is that Chief Udeh has insisted that the community has to open another bank account because he had no time to regularize the current bank account to reflect the financial secretary and treasurer as signatories.
Udeh also claimed that there were some expenses he personally made during the inauguration and the Committee Chairman, Amb. Anthony, should present the inauguration account so that he will list the expenses he personally made from his pocket without informing the committee.
However, Chief Udeh did not say anything concerning the money, which the inauguration Committee Chairman said was paid into the community’s bank account, which Udeh and Odimegwu are signatories to.
Another issue that is causing confusion among the executive members is the directives of the President General, Chief Udeh, that the treasurer should keep the community’s money in her private account to enable him to have easy access to the money whenever he needs it. Some of the Executive members wondered why Udeh should consent to such conduct knowing fully that the Igbo Speaking Community is a registered organization and it is expected that there should be transparency and proper accountability in their dealings.
It was not certain if the curses placed on some members of the executive by the President General, Chief Sunday Udeh, has affected the trio of General Secretary, Chief Joshua Kalu, Treasurer, Mrs. Uju Stella and Chief Security officer, Sir Eric Okafor, for saying publicly that the inauguration committee has not rendered account.
Kalu stated: “The inauguration of the current leadership was done on 14th September, 2025, and a separate committee was responsible for handling finances. The committee that handled the inauguration has not submitted any report as of today”. It turned out to be false because the inauguration money paid to Kalu has not been accounted for as alleged by the Committee Chairman, Amb. Anthony.
The CSO, Sir Eric Okechukwu Nwafor, also goofed when he said: “Even the President General doesn’t touch money. We have a designated desk for the financial secretary, treasurer, and assistant financial secretary, where all funds are collected and recorded. The President General only receives updates during meetings when the accountable officers render their reports.”
He was said to be shocked when the inauguration Committee Chairman, Amb Anthony, revealed that the President General refused to print out the statement of monies paid into the bank account and even claiming that he ran expenses during the inauguration without informing the committee.
The treasurer, Mrs. Uju Stella, was said to have fumbled when she addressed claims that the President General and his deputy had allegedly taken over the association’s finances. “That is a lie from the pit of hell,” she said.
However, when the committee chairman revealed that Chief Udeh had refused to reveal details of the monies paid into the bank account, she was speechless and ashamed.
Besides, she was alleged to have invested the community’s money in her personal business and if any money is needed, she will be notified ahead so that she will sell her goods in order to bring the money according to the executive member.
