The much anticipated maiden edition of the Inspector General of Police Badminton tournament would commence on 24, November at the Badminton Hall, Police College, Ikeja, Lagos.
The three days event which was put together by The Nigerian Police Badminton Association would feature participating teams like Army, Navy, Air Force, Immigration, Correctional Service, Civil Defence, Road Safety, Lagos Badminton team and invited Badminton clubs within and outside the state.
Chairman Police Badminton Association, SP Justin Takyun said all arrangements have been put in place to organize a befitting and colourful badminton competition.
He said the competition is being organized to honour Inspector General of Police, Alkali Baba Usman for his support and contribution given to sports since he assumed the office in the Nigeria Police Force.
He said the competition would bring healthy rivalry among the Nigerian security forces and urged the participators not to see the tournament as a do- or –die affairs.
He said all the participating teams would be treated equally noted that the competition would discover some Badminton players that would represent the country in international competitions in the nearest future.
