Igwe Sunday Nwobodo Relocates Over Alleged Plan To Kill Him By Hard Drugs Suspect

The traditional ruler of Umuisu, Ugbawka Community in Enugu State, Igwe Sunday Nwobodo, has temporarily relocated following a threat he received from a notorious suspected hard drugs dealer in his New Planet Resort in Lagos State.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the 39-year old suspected drug dealer, Emmanuel Okeke, was said to have emphatically told Igwe Sunday Nwobodo that he will kill him and cut off his head for stopping him from selling hard drugs in his New Planet Resort, located at Aka Road, Ajangbadi, Ojo, Lagos State.
Sensing potential danger over his life,  Igwe Nwobodo reportedly relocated in order to save his life and as well incidented the matter with the Police for intervention.
The suspect, Emmanuel Okeke, has been arrested and charged for conduct likely to cause breach of public peace, threat to life and selling of hard drugs at the hotel premises.
According to the Police, the complainant, Igwe Sunday Nwobodo, who is the Director of New Planet Resort, courted trouble by stopping the suspect, Emmanuel Okeke, from selling hard drugs inside his hotel premises.
This angered the suspect, who abused him and alleged Igwe Nwobodo to be a murderer and ritualist. And he threatened to cut off the complainant’s head, which instilled fear in him forcing him to relocate for safety.
The matter was reported to the Police at Ilembe Hausa Division. The operatives trailed, arrested the suspect and detained at the station for interrogation over his alleged conduct.
After rounds of interrogation, the Police found him culpable and consequently charged him before the Ojo Magistrate Court for the alleged offence which attracts several years of imprisonment.
The charges read:
“That you, Emmanuel Okeke ‘m’ on the 24th day of February, 2025 at about 0030hrs at New Planet Resort, Aka Road, Ajangbadi, Ojo, Lagos State, in the Ojo Magisterial District, after being warned severally by the management of the aforementioned hotel to desist from selling hard drugs inside their premises, did conduct yourself in a manner likely to cause a breach of the peace by insisting and selling all sorts of hard drugs such as ICE, INDIAN HEMP and MOLI, and also disturbing the peace of customers inside the hotel premises belonging to one Sunday Nwobodo ‘m’, being represented by Kelvin Audu ‘m’, and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 168(d) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”
COUNT II:” That you, Emmanuel Okeke ‘m’ on the same date, time and place in the aforementioned Magisterial District, did conduct yourself in a manner likely to cause a breach of the peace by threatening to kill and cut off the head of one Mr. Sunday Nwobodo; the Director of New Planet Resort for stopping you from selling hard drugs inside his hotel premises, an act which caused him fears and put his life in danger, and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 168(d) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”
COUNT III:” That you, Emmanuel Okeke ‘m’ on the same date, time and place in the aforementioned Magisterial District, with the intent to tarnish the image and personality of one Sunday Nwobodo ‘m’ the Director of New Planet Resort, did conduct yourself in a manner likely to cause the breach of the peace by publicly calling him a MURDERER and a RITUALIST, knowing same to be false, and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 168(d) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”
However, he pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Inspector Esther Adesulu, asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O.M.Ogun, granted him bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned till 24th April, 2025, for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
