PRINCE MACDONALD ENWERE
Following the recent resignation of the former Governor of Imo State, Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha, from the Peoples Democratic Party, the resignation spree has hit the Peoples Democratic Party, Abia State. His resignation, which caused a political effervescence and spontaneous quake in the Imo State political firmament, where over 85% of PDP members in the state joined him, is said to be experiencing cross-border influence in other South East states PDP.
The influence of Ihedioha’s exit has not only dampened the zeal and fancy of top leaders of the party in South East but has disrupted the rooted foundation of the main opposition party in Imo State and beyond.
His resignation is also expected to open a floodgate and deluge of more resignation of PDP members in other South East states. For instance, after the mass exodus of PDP members in Imo State over Ihedioha’s exit, the resignation spree has hit the neighbouring God’s own state, Abia. Three days ago, former Speaker of Abia State House of Assembly, Hon Enyinnaya Orji, dumped the party. His resignation came shortly after Hon Chris Nwagboso, former Deputy Chief of Staff(office of the Deputy Governor) Abia State, also resigned his membership of the PDP in Abia state. In a similar development, the entire executive committee members of the PDP in Item Ward C, Bende LGA  of Abia State also dumped the party. Others who joined Ihedioha in resigning from the party Include; Hon Ike Anyatonwu – former Executive Chairman of Isiala Ngwa South Local Government Area of Abia State, Hon(Chief) Mrs. Uloma Nworgu- former Executive Chairman of Obingwa Local Government Area of Abia State, Hon Prince Stanley Okey Ogbonna- chairman of PDP stakeholders Abia State and former Executive Chairman of Aba North Local Government Area of Abia State, Hon Ikechukwu Nwabekee- former Chief whip Abia State House of Assembly and former member representing Osisioma Ngwa North State Constituency , Dr Okorafor Igwe- former Executive Chairman of Ohafia Local Government Area of Abia State, Hon Onwuka Princewill Chimezie – PDP stalwart in Abia State and many others coming.
The influence of Ihedioha’s exit from the PDP in creeping in other PDP states in  the South East. Let’s watch and see the IHEDIOHA-HURRICANE.
