The people of Ijede Local Council Development Area (LCDA), were full of gratitude, as Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru, FCA, the Senator representing Lagos East Senatorial District, delivered two critical projects, the fully renovated and equipped block of classrooms at Luwasa Junior High School and the upgraded Abule Eko Primary Health Centre.
The projects, commissioned on Thursday, September 18, 2025, mark another milestone in the Senator’s ongoing drive to improve the quality of life for constituents through interventions in education, healthcare, road infrastructure, and other amenities.
Speaking at the commissioning, Senator Abiru, who was represented by a frontline political figure in Ikorodu, Alhaji Rilwan Ishola Jinadu (RIJ), described the projects as more than brick and mortar, but as symbols of hope and progress for the Ijede community.
“Education remains the greatest legacy we can bequeath to our children. By renovating and providing conducive classrooms, we are laying a solid foundation for academic excellence and nurturing the leaders of tomorrow,” he said.
On the health project, the Senator added: “Healthcare should not be a privilege but a right. With this facility now properly equipped and fit for use, families in Abule Eko and beyond can access essential medical services closer to their homes, thereby reducing avoidable illnesses and saving lives.”
Executive Chairman of Ijede LCDA, Hon. (Mrs) Motunrayo Gbadebo-Alogba, who commissioned the school block, commended the Senator for his giant strides across the Lagos East Senatorial district.
“This is a true reflection of responsive representation. Our children can now learn in an environment that inspires and motivates them,” she noted.
The Principal of the school, Mrs Modupe Idowu-Alozie, and the Chairman, Parents’ Forum, Hon. Ileyemi Johnson, lauded the renovated school, adding that it will further improve learning outcomes.
Residents of Abule Eko welcomed the upgraded health facility as timely, especially for mothers, infants, and the elderly.
Senator Abiru urged the communities to take ownership of the facilities, stressing that proper maintenance and responsible use were key to ensuring the projects serve generations to come.
